1.  Demonstrate an awareness of the

     types of games available for children

     to play.

 

 

1.1  Identify at least 3 different types of games available for children to

       play (e.g. board games, ball games)

1.2  Describe the features of each type

2.  Demonstrate an understanding of

     the value of games to a child’s all

     round development across a range

     of ages.

 

 

2.1  Explain how playing games can contribute to a child’s all round

      development

2.2  Describe the possible learning outcome of a specific board game and

       a specific physical game played with a child/ children

3.  Demonstrate an awareness of the

     possible effects on children of

     playing competitive games across a

     range of ages.

 

 

3.1  Explain, giving examples, the possible benefits to children of playing

       competitive games (e.g. working as a team)

3.2  Explain, giving examples, the possible negative effects to children of

       playing competitive games

4.  Demonstrate the ability to support

     children’s  involvement in playing

     games across a  range of ages.

 

4.1  Produce a plan of action for two different types of games, explaining

       how support for the children’s participation will be provided

4.2  Play the games with children and review own role in providing support

       for the children

4.3  Identify the children’s learning outcomes from playing the games

 

5.  Demonstrate the ability to plan or

     design a game for children to

     encourage specific learning

     outcomes across a range of ages.

 

 

5.1  Identify a game which will promote a desirable learning outcome for a

       specific child or group of children (e.g. ability to catch a ball;

       knowledge of road safety)

5.2   Plan the game, explaining why it is appropriate for this child/children

5.3   Explain how the child/children will be supported and encouraged to

        develop the desirable learning outcome

5.4   Explain how to play the game

5.5   Identify the required equipment

5.6   Discuss the success of the game, after playing it with the

        child/children

5.7   Review own planning in relation to the success of the game
