Healthy Lifestyle Programme for Local Authorities, Schools and Community Organisations

 

This is a programme of activities normally bought in by Local Authorities for all their schools or a cluster of schools. One or more elements of it can be delivered to schools, children’s centres, or community groups to suit their needs and audience. The list is not exhaustive but gives an indication of what could be delivered.

Healthy activities and Cooking for school and communities  

To cover:- Why Healthy Options, consultation, Ideas that work, Staffing, Health and safety, Funding Marketing, Planning Healthy Activities and Cooking for Schools and Communities guidance book for the delegates attending.

 

Half day training course

This can be run successfully as a full day by combining it with the Healthy Easy Options for Breakfast and After School Clubs Hands on Cookery session below.

Practical cookery session covering the recipes in the Healthy Easy Options for Breakfast and After School Clubs Recipe book.

Half day training course

Experience tells us that when delegates doing the cooking in a supported environment like this then they do make the recipes. This would have to be limited to 10 – 15 delegates and ideally have cooking facilities, but it can be run as a non cook session in a classroom.

Fundraising made Easy OCN Level 2 training course

OCN Fundraising training course for up to 30 delegates

Funding made Easy book containing a database of possible funders for each delegate.

One to one support sessions for schools, extended services and children’s centres 

One to one sessions with individuals or small groups within the same organisation covering 

  • Consultation.
  • Marketing.
  • Quick wins for activities.
  • Medium and long term options for activities.
  • Future training needs/support for the school.

The end result being an Action plan for the way forward

Sessions normally last two to two and a half hours but can be longer.

Playground Activity Games training for children and teachers

Playground activity games with no or limited equipment training sessions for school staff (mainly Primary) and their pupils. Each session will teach 5 schools (5 x Year 5 pupils and one or two members of staff) to play and teach simple but active playground games using either no or limited equipment.

Normally a half day training session

Games will be either no equipment or limited e.g. a bean bag. Option of providing a Playground activity games with no or limited equipment activity pack for the schools attending e.g. bean bags etc. 

Hands on Training for Tutors: Cooking for and with Kids – First Steps

 

Practical cookery session to teach potential tutors how to teach 6 sections/12 First Steps cooking sessions to adults, children or as family learning. Types covered are

  • · Crazy Sandwiches
  • · Fun with Fruit
  • · Muffins and Biscuits
  • · Pizza
  • · Versatile Vegetables

Areas covered include Cooking equipment, Top Tips, Health and Safety as well as the practical cookery.

Training for Tutors – Cooking for and with Kids - First Steps Guidance Material/Recipe book for every delegates attending.

One day training course

This is limited to 10 – 15 delegates and would need basic cooking facilities.
